Not quite the stairway to heaven...

This one is quite old but it remains one of my favourite images. On my way to Uni in about 2006 I drove past a church, and the combination of light, season, and the speed of my car (I was going slow enough to notice the composition) just grabbed me.

In my car was my Bronica GS-1, loaded with yummy 100ISO Velvia film. Lens was 110mm. The strange confused scale of the leaves against the gate is something I can’t explain, all I can assure you is that the gate is human sized and not Smurf sized.

Homo-erotic dolls much?

Universities set strange assignments. I was told to read a newspaper and then come up with a photo-set inspired by an article. Sadly they didnt have any proper newspapers but being a Media Production course they had piles of the Guardian. One hopes they were there as bedding for the hamsters whose night-time wheel-spinning kept the security guards coffee hot.

The article was just another Conservative MP coming out of the closet. Obviously I photographed dolls looking a bit gay.

Shot on 100ISO Velvia in a Bronica GS-1. Thank you please.

Not a frikkin' laser in sight.

This image was one of many from a day photographing a simulated game shooting day in Lincolnshire, for ‘Lincolnshire Life Magazine’.

Simulated game doesn’t mean you shoot at the screen with a ‘frikkin laser’, but rather clays are flushed over the guns in a pattern that goes some way towards simulating the changeable nature of a bird in flight. You aren’t stuck shooting the same clay trajectory all day… they go all over the place.

Most of my articles for Lincolnshire Life Magazine are actually online, but oddly this one doesn’t seem to be. * tear *

Capturing Japanese sex appeal; crotch-rockets, not young girls in knee-high socks.

Through an already happy client we picked up a fellow whose new business venture was to build upon his bike racing experience; quality track-day bikes and aftermarket spares.

Our original plan was to charge the client a small fee each month to tweak his photographs of bikes for sale, but that was completely thrown out of the window when I popped in to offer some assistance. Though we were, admittedly, only working in an out-building it took two Elinchrom 500 flash-heads, a big fat white sheet, and some photoshop to get the bikes as cleanly presented as our design eyes required.

Results speak for themselves though.

Hipness missed, sheep bothered, & irritation over education.

This blog, as my friend Martin commented, comes only 6 years after blogs stopped being “hip”. Thankfully, however, I only follow sheep when I intend to bother one.

So often I will rant discuss with friends the failings of the government or the latest poor driver to work me up in to a Cumbrian frenzy (not too soon is it?!) and it seems slightly unfair that I am only able to irritate educate one person at any time.

Thus, the blog. Once more into the beach, or something.
